The Nearest Redeemer

Ruth

Ruth is a story of redemption. Redemption is The costly freedom won for the weak and powerless by one who loves them and has the power to pay the cost. In Ruth 4 we find that the redeeming, steadfast love of God goes far beyond obligation and His promises never fail! Because your Redeemer is who He is…you are free to love beyond every obligation! There is good news for you. You are weak and powerless! But there is one who is strong…and not only able to pay the cost, but goes far beyond every obligation to do it! And in Jesus, God became for us our nearest redeemer when he took on flesh, took the form of a servant---he took on obligations that he didn’t have to take, and in his steadfast love paid every cost so that we would not only be forgiven…but we would become true heirs of God! He is your Redeemer! And this Jesus must become the hero of your story. The Bible says that He is righteousness…he is holiness…he is redemption! Redemption is not just some great thing that happens to you…redemption is a person…he is your costly freedom—he is your inheritance. In him alone you are free! In him alone you are strong!
