Supreme and Sufficient

Advent

What are you looking for today? What are you looking for as Christmas approaches? Is it stuff…Is it some warm, fuzzy, temporary feeling of peace…or will you look for the all-sufficient, supreme Lord who alone is your peace? Jesus has his arms wide open…throw down everything and come running to Jesus! He took alienated enemies and made them reconciled sons and daughters! We hated him…and He died for us! And when he gave everything to reconcile us…he did it with a purpose…in order to present us HOLY and BLAMELESS and ABOVE REPROACH before the judgment seat of Jesus! Paul says the same thing a little differently in Romans 5: “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10)” This one came to give His life for His enemies. It pleased him to do this so that His enemies would stand before His throne clothed in the holiness that has only, ever belonged to Jesus!
