The disciples have Jesus or, rather, Jesus has them. It is that fact alone that separates them from the others. Not because they were so good, but because he is. Not because they were wise, but because he is. Not because they had the power to come, but because he had the power to give himself. Salvation and judgment are entirely in Jesus’ hands. And, if you look at your life today and you find that in some way it more resembles one of those soils that will not bear fruit, then you can run to Jesus knowing that you could only come because he wants you to come.
That is good news. Jesus shows us here that God always accomplishes his will and if you are his today…nobody had to twist his arm. Yes…he wants you! This is very good news. He gives you Jesus. This is the best news.
