Message: “Remember the Sabbath Day” from Michael Daling

The logic of Sabbath is very simple…like Father, like son…in Genesis 1, God did his good work when he made the heavens and the earth and all that is in them in six days. In the same way, his son, Israel, must do the all the good work God has given in six days. God finished that work and he rested on the seventh. So too, his son, Israel, must cease. When the Lord’s work was finished——his delight in his finished work was expressed in rest. Not the rest of taking a nap, but the rest of being fully satisfied and delighted as he sits in sovereign reign over all things. God blessed the seventh day. The heart of God is right there…the Sabbath is a blessing on creation and on his people. We share not just in God’s work, but in his pleasure and joy.
