Remember
Remember that you really were cleansed by a God who really speaks. …Because there is a living God who created all things and has his fingerprints all over the place. He is a God who moves in and intervenes and interferes in human history. Peter reminds them that their faith is tied to things that really happened. And, in the scriptures, we don’t just have a word from God handed down from heaven, but the Holy Spirit inspired Words from God that are a result of a God who acts in history…he doesn’t just stand outside of it. In other words…Our faith hinges on a God who actually entered into human history…if it did not happen, then our faith is void and useless. This makes our faith something very distinct…it is the faith in the God of Israel…who created all things…fights for and redeems his people in the face of all earthly and heavenly opposition.
