The Life of Your Neighbor

God’s Law is holy, righteous and good. It is the expression of what delights the God who is love and justice. And here’s the thing…we have broken God’s Law. 100,000 times and more…Intentionally and unintentionally and through outright neglect, we have violently destroyed our neighbor…we have sought to de-image them. Whether it be through violent acts, angry thoughts, the destruction of their reputation, or just the neglect of our cold and hard hearts…we are transgressors of God’s Law. This Law condemns us. If we have broken one part of it, we are guilty of all of it. And if we just try harder to keep it, we will only become slightly more socially acceptable people who are condemned. The Law was never intended to save us…but to make us desperately aware of our need for Jesus.
