Aaron let the people break loose to the derision of their enemies… laughing at God and his people. The sin of God’s people has a direct impact on how the world sees God. If a leader will not obey God—tell the truth about themselves and their own sin—and represent God faithfully before the people, God’s name will be laughed at in the world and the people of God will be discipled into twisted understandings of God. The name and reputation of a church leader can NEVER take priority over the name and reputation of God.
