A Jesus Shaped Life

If our faith isn’t also our lived experience, we will mold what we believe to how we live…we are going to begin to think that God’s commands aren’t good…or that he is against us in some way…or just become more and more hypocritical. Real assurance will always be out of our grasp. When your life - at home or behind closed doors or in the company of other groups of people outside the church—doesn’t match up, our knowledge of Jesus becomes ineffective and unfruitful—we begin to think that God is overly demanding and unfair—as though he is withholding. Faith becomes something that doesn’t change all that much in our lives. It is a form of knowing that never crosses over into partaking in the divine life of Jesus.
